Nigerian youths have been encouraged by leading environmentalist, Bright Lemchi, founder of Gowasteline Company to leverage recycling to unlock economic empowerment, innovation and environmental restoration.
The young leader is an environmental icon dedicated to combating climate change, eradicate plastic pollution, and empower communities through sustainable solutions.
His message is clear and urgent: Nigeria’s young generation must rise as protectors of the planet, innovators of solutions, and architects of a sustainable future. Through recycling and renewable energy, they can rewrite the story of environmental restoration, one skill, one innovation, and one community at a time.
In a passionate call to action, environmentalist and social entrepreneur Bright Lemchi, Founder of Gowasteline Companies, is urging Nigerian youths to embrace recycling and green energy skills as powerful tools for tackling unemployment, poverty, and environmental degradation.
According to Lemchi, the future of Nigeria’s economy and environmental sustainability lies in skills-based innovation, particularly in waste management and renewable energy. “Every plastic bottle, every discarded material holds value,” he emphasizes. “Through recycling and upcycling, we can turn waste into wealth, reduce pollution, and build a circular economy that creates opportunities for all.”
At Gowasteline, Bright and his team have pioneered practical solutions that transform plastic waste into interlocking tiles and convert plastics into fuel, demonstrating how technology and creativity can solve pressing environmental challenges. Beyond plastic, his enterprise also champions organic waste-to-biogas systems for clean cooking and solar energy installations, empowering communities with sustainable energy alternatives.
Lemchi believes equipping women and youth with these green skills will not only curb climate change but also ignite a wave of eco-entrepreneurship across Nigeria. “We must stop waiting for white-collar jobs and start creating green-collar opportunities,” he says.
Under his leadership, Gowasteline has trained over 16,000 youths across Nigeria on recycling, upcycling, and waste conversion skills, creating jobs, fostering green entrepreneurship, and restoring hope in underserved communities. His team has successfully recovered 125+ tons of plastic waste, initiated awareness campaigns across 58 communities, and championed projects that merge environmental education with economic empowerment.
Bright Lemchi’s impact has earned him notable recognitions, both at local level and globally. Beyond accolades, Bright’s story is one of resilience, purpose, and unwavering belief that one person’s action can spark a global movement. The world needs more passionate changemakers like Bright Lemchi, individuals who don’t just dream of a greener planet but work daily to build it.
